Intel may no longer hold its chief rival at arm's length, as it reportedly plans to open up its fabrication facilities to chip designs by ARM Holdings. The move is significant because despite Intel's overall market share, it has had trouble competing in the all-important mobile chip marketplace.It's an area that ARM has cornered, having licensed the designs of over 95% of mobile processors on the marketplace right now.

Pretty much every top smartphone this year, from the Galaxy S4 to the iPhone 5S, has been powered by ARM's efficiently designed chips.The Altera chip is destined for high-end networking and communication equipment, meaning you shouldn't look for it to take on consumer-facing chips. End Of The Line For Panasonic Plasma TV

After the heartbreak of losing Pioneer's excellent Kuro line, Panasonic's plasma displays were the last bastion of hope for plasma TV enthusiasts, but now even they are going extinct. Panasonic today confirmed a Reuters report from earlier this month that it is exiting the plasma TV market with almost immediate effect — production of new units will end in December and all related operations will be wrapped by March next year. Two of Panasonic's three factories have already stopped building new units and the third will join them in about a month's time.

Panasonic made a strong effort to push its plasma TVs this year — coming to CES in January with a fully refreshed home theater lineup — however the economics of plasma display production just haven't worked out for the company. Though consumer demand is apparently still firm, Panasonic says that "due to rapid, drastic changes in the business environment" and price pressure from more affordable LCD TVs, the unhappy decision had to be made. That leaves HD enthusiasts with a few months to save up the money to buy a ZT60, the last in a proud line of beautiful TVs.

A new, unofficial, video shows the Xbox One's latest feature: Snap multitasking, that allows you to open up the Internet and other apps while playing a game.We see a group of first-time users navigating through websites using Internet Explorer on a side window while playing the game Killer Instinct.

The description says it's from an Xbox One development kit, but it's not clear how recent the software shown is.In the video things seem to work quickly and smoothly, but the game does get squashed to the left-hand side of the screen.
  
Microsoft's Albert Penello said that the final version of the Xbox One will not look like this.
"This is an old build," he tweeted. "Not up to date. Game doesn't get squeezed like that and it's super slow. Current builds WAY faster."
That may be true, but this low production film could show a fairly accurate depiction of a first time experience with the Xbox One’s user interface.
The video has divided opinion amongst gaming fans. One user was excited, saying: "This looks promising, pretty smooth."
Others were less impressed, however: "Looks like a mess. Microsoft really have problems."

Turn Plastic into Diesel :

The process is really simple, it is similar to how alcohol is made. If you heat plastic waste in non oxygen environment, it will melt, but will not burn. After it has melted, it will start to boil and evaporate, you just need to put those vapors through a cooling pipe and when cooled the vapors will condense to a liquid and some of the vapors with shorter hydrocarbon lengths will remain as a gas. The exit of the cooling pipe is then going through a bubbler containing water to capture the last liquid forms of fuel and leave only gas that is then burned. If the cooling of the cooling tube is sufficient, there will be no fuel in the bubbler, but if not, the water will capture all the remaining fuel that will float above the water and can be poured off the water. On the bottom of the cooling tube is a steel reservoir that collects all the liquid and it has a release valve on the bottom so that the liquid fuel can be poured out.

Cambridge City Council has covered an historic city pathway with ultraviolet particles which turn blue when the sun sets, in what could be the future of street lighting.The technology, called 'Starpath', absorbs light during the day before emitting the artificial glow in the evening.It is thought technology could one day replace streetlamps as a cheaper and more energy efficient form of lighting.The technology is currently being trialed at Christ's Pieces in Cambridge and now the council have revealed they could adopt the path elsewhere in the city.Cllr Andrea Reiner, the executive councillor for public places, said: "This is an interesting idea that the surfacing company asked if the council would like to explore for a trial period.

 The glowing particles can be painted over existing paths to turn a dark road into a stretch of bright color, no overhead lighting required. This could allow cash-strapped towns to keep their streets safely lit at night while eliminating the cost of street lights. The Cambridge City Council has said that if Starpath works out well in the park, it might be expanded to cover other part of the city. The technology might be useful to illuminate the bike lane of a road, for instance.

Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound, How to Apply and Review:

Arctic Silver 5 is the one of the best thermal compound on the market. There are other types that might be better for specific purposes (Arctic Céramique for example), but for cooling a CPU, this is the best. Mozilla, makers of the Firefox browser, has released an add-on called Lightbeam for Firefox which presents a visualization of your browsing history and analyzes which applications are tracking or monitoring you online and how they are connected. The company had previously released an experimental add-on for Firefox called Collusion in a bid to better understand how first-party website tools shape a visitor’s experience and how their data is tracked.

Users who activate Lightbeam will be able to see a real-time visualisation of every site they visit and every third-party that is active on those sites, including commercial organisations which might potentially be sharing your data.Mozilla wants users who install the Lightbeam add-on to Firefox, to crowd-source their data, to produce the first “big picture” view of web tracking, revealing which third-parties are most active.

A new LinkedIn feature designed to familiarize users with their email partners could introduce a slew of security problems to enterprises and individuals who use it, researchers said this week.
The new feature, LinkedIn Intro, enables iPhone users to route their email through LinkedIn so that they can get background on an email sender or receiver before they write. The feature helps the user become more familiar with their email partners, LinkedIn says.

 But security experts say the new feature is deeply flawed and potentially dangerous to the user's personal privacy -- and, by extension, to any enterprise that allows employees to use LinkedIn via the corporate network.

 The Google driverless car is a project by Google that involves developing technology for autonomous cars. The software powering Google's cars is called Google Chauffeur. Lettering on the side of each car identifies it as a "self-driving car." The project is currently being led by Google engineer Sebastian Thrun, director of the Stanford Artificial Intelligence Laboratory and co-inventor of Google Street View. Thrun's team at Stanford created the robotic vehicle Stanley which won the 2005 DARPA Grand Challenge and its US$2 million prize from the United States Department of Defense.The team developing the system consisted of 15 engineers working for Google, including Chris Urmson, Mike Montemerlo, and Anthony Levandowski who had worked on the DARPA Grand and Urban Challenges.

The U.S. state of Nevada passed a law on June 29, 2011 permitting the operation of autonomous cars in Nevada. Google had been lobbying for robotic car laws. The Nevada law went into effect on March 1, 2012, and the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles issued the first license for an autonomous car in May 2012. The license was issued to a Toyota Prius modified with Google's experimental driverless technology. As of April 2012, Florida became the second state to allow the testing of autonomous cars on public roads. California became the third state to legalize the use of self-driven cars for testing purposes as of September 2012 when Governor Jerry Brown signed the bill into law at Google HQ in Mountain View.

LG Google NEXUX 4 Price, Specifications and Review:

With its recent history of mediocre handsets, LG needs something other than the Optimus G to be its Hail Mary that can carry it to the top. Unfortunately, the Nexus 4 isn't quite it.Don't get me wrong, the device itself performs excellently, and some of the specs are certainly impressive: the quad-core CPU is swift, the Jelly Bean Android OS runs as smooth as butter, and all the subtle new features work well without being too unintuitive or burdensome.But Google's flagship phone is missing one huge feature that caught us all off guard. The Nexus, which is supposed to represent Android in its most modern, so-high-tech-that-it's-on-the-bleeding-edge form, isn't 4G LTE-enabled.

 1. Build Quality: This is without a doubt one of the most comfortable phone. It's glass front and back sandwiching a smooth grippy edging makes for one enjoyable handholding experience. It's not too light and not too heavy. It is a little wide if you use a bumper, but on it's own it feels really good in average to large-size hands. The curved front is extremely smooth and once you swipe across it a few times, you will never want to go back. It's that good. I will say though that the phone gets HOT when downloading a lot of videos, and gets pretty warm when playing games for an extended period of time. If the back were made out of plastic it would be less of a problem- I guess you are trading off practicality for elegance that situation. The faint checkered back breaks up the "black slab" appearance of the phone, and looks good, but it's not a game-changer. With the glass back, the tapered edges, and the grippy sides, you'll be tempted to NOT own a case. This is one elegant phone! Just don't drop it. Glass breaks.

Canon EOS 60D 18 MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera Reiew :

The newest addition to Canon's XXD line might initially seem like a minor downgrade to the previous XXD cameras, but several new capabilities actually help make this a nice, well-featured camera that will appeal to many people who don't get caught up in whether or not this is a better camera than it's predecessor. Canon certainly made this camera for the price point and was careful to add just enough features to make it desirable over the T2i, but not desirable enough to compete with the 7D. In some respects though, it seems like a beefed-up version of the Rebel line (a "Super-Rebel") instead of a new addition to the XXD line.

 I have to say that I really like the feel of the 60D. Even though it no longer has the magnesium alloy body, it feels solid. In no way does it feel cheap. I have fairly small hands and the 60D feels like it was made for me. It's significantly lighter than the 7D and feels like it would be much more friendly on long hikes. The 7D feels much more robust; however, the 60D feels much more "comfy". It is definitely bigger in size than the T2i, but the angles and design of the camera have a nicely updated feel to them that makes it seem like you are getting a much more substantial camera. The articulating screen was also done very well. My initial worries that the screen would feel cheap and break easily were immediately relieved after using it. The hinges are very solid and feel almost stiff to the point where you are comfortable with it staying right where you want it. It also is very flush with the rest of the body and offers little space in between.

A number of Windows Phone users have found that their data usage has been abnormally high of late, and it's all thanks to Twitter. Some users have reported that the built-in Twitter feature of their Windows Phone handsets has used up as much as 530MB of mobile data over the past month - enough to put many people over their monthly data allowance.

Microsoft has confirmed that there's an issue with its built-in Twitter feature that could result in unexpected data usage. The issue stems from a Twitter back-end change that has caused Windows Phones to re-download the profile images for Twitter contacts frequently. Twitter is currently transitioning its profile pictures from one server to another, and was discovered the data use problem nearly a week ago and reported it to the software giant.

HTC ONE Gets Bonus 25-50GB of free Google Drive space :

Google is taking a page out of Dropbox's book and offering free extra storage for certain HTC One handsets. The HTC One Max got 50GB of storage space out of the box, but we've been tipped that those with the handset's smaller sibling will net an additional 25GB of room in the cloud,all thanks to
the international Sense 5.5 (and Android 4.3) update that readers have already started receiving in Europe. These expansions are in addition to the complimentary 15GB of Drive space available to all Google users, bringing the allotted storage totals to 65GB and 40GB for the One Max and One, respectively. There are a few caveats, though. According to Mountain View, the HTC One Developer Edition isn't eligible for this due to its unlocked bootloader.


This bonus storage will be good for two years, which is conveniently the entire length of a full upgrade cycle on most US carriers. However, there are a few caveats to keep in mind:

• The bonus storage can only be redeemed once per account and per device, so don’t even think about redeeming this offer using multiple phones.
• The Developer Edition HTC One is not included – that’s because you cannot redeem the offer on a device with an unlocked bootloader.
• The storage has to be redeemed by January 1, 2016 – so in case you’ve got other bonus storage (from a Chromebook, for example) and you want to make your free storage last as long as possible, you might be able to time this just right and redeem it only after your other bonus storage expires.

Apple's MacBook Pro line has now gotten an entirely expected upgrade to current-generation Intel CPUs, just in time for the holiday shopping season. MacBook Pro 15-inch models look and feel just like the previous generation, but the promise of longer battery life, somewhat improved performance, faster Wi-Fi, and lower starting prices is enough to make this a significant overall update.

 The high-end, high-price Retina Display versions of the MacBook Pro had previously been stuck in an unusual position. While other systems, from budget laptops to premium hybrids, had all moved onto Intel's latest CPU platform, known as either the fourth-generation Core i-series or by the code name Haswell, the MacBook Pro still used last year's processors.

If you rushed to upgrade your Mac to OS X Mavericks, congratulations -- you've just taken a big step forward in web security. Adobe has confirmed that Flash Player is now sandboxed in Safari for Mavericks users, preventing Flash-based malware from accessing code and resources beyond Apple's browser. The company is taking special advantage of OS X's new app sandboxing feature, which also minimizes the security risks for other plugins and programs. Safari is undoubtedly late to the party when Flash has been sandboxed for a while in both Chrome and Firefox, but we won't knock an upgrade that neuters many potential security exploits.

For the technically minded, this means that there is a specific com.macromedia.Flash Player.plugin.sb file defining the security permissions for Flash Player when it runs within the sandboxed plugin process. As you might expect, Flash Player’s capabilities to read and write files will be limited to only those locations it needs to function properly. The sandbox also limits Flash Player’s local connections to device resources and inter-process communication (IPC) channels. Finally, the sandbox limits Flash Player’s networking privileges to prevent unnecessary connection capabilities.

 Safari users on OS X Mavericks can view Flash Player content while benefiting from these added security protections.

When you are listening to music and working out Everyone around the gym is either wearing in-ears which can get in the way with the cords coming out of both earbuds or they fall out because they don't fit your ear completely perfect. I even see people wearing the overhead Beats to workout. It just doesn't look right. But these combats came in the mail the other day and all those problems were solved.

They contain the great sound quality of a high end over-the-ear headphones. Nice strong bass with great mid ranges. It doesn't have the strongest I've heard, but enough bumps to really get you in the mood when you are working out.

Sennheiser HD 598 Headphones price and Review :

This is one of the best all-purpose headphone, and not just for music either. I'm talking music, movies, and games. Their extremely likeable and unfatiguing sound makes them an ace at nearly any kind of music you throw at them; their huge and precise sound stage gives you the advantage in competitive gaming while enhancing any gaming experience; and their unbelievable comfort makes watching hours of your favorite movies or shows a breeze. If the glowing reviews don't catch your attention, the color sure will. Arguably the strangest color scheming to a headphone ever made, these definitely attract a lot of comments. For those of you who think these look ugly, I suggest holding your opinions until you see them in person. Yes, they are kinda strange at first, but they really do look unique in their own way; and the color really seems to grow on you. The grills look better, the headband material looks better, and the color scheme with wood accents is quite intriguing to say the least. Build quality wise, they are plastic, but that was expected. Not much to write home about here, but given their cheap feel, at least they are incredibly lightweight and are physically quite small. But lucky for us, we won't be staring into a mirror while listening to these, so it really doesn't matter what it looks like.

Anker 8000 DPI Review :

Anker is a company that make that bold of a statement as it was founded by gamers for gamers in an effort to bring a great gaming mouse to market and one that was affordable as well.  Many of the high-end gaming peripherals get a huge price boost just by attaching the word GAMING upon it, but Anker keeps it real and at $39.99, and in some cases goes on sale for as low as $19.99, which is an amazing deal all around.

Mouse itself is very light, good thing the weights are included. However, even with all 8 weights in place it still feels lighter than Logitech MX518, but certainly still comfortable. The weight cartridge, on the underside of the mouse when open, leaves gaps big enough to easily drop one of the weights inside the actual mouse body itself. When installed the weights are held in place and feel pretty sturdy.

Cooler Master Seidon 120M Review :

Cooler Master's latest series, the Seidon. This Seidon 120M version is the single-fan setup using one 120mm fan with a radiator of the same size, much like the pricier Thermaltake Water 2.0 Performer. The 120XL is made to work with AMD and Intel systems and seems to have everything you need.
This water cooler is piling into serious air-cooling territory, and with the impressive thermal performance of even these budget liquid chillers it's getting harder and harder to recommend active air-coolers.

 Three things to note with the installation though are,
 1. Make sure you dry fit everything so you know exactly where the cooling lines will run and the fan cables.
 2. Ensure that the stand-offs are installed with the plastic washer towards the mother board, you will ground the board out if not and get a RAM error;
3. Don't gorilla torque everything down. It only requires about 25 in/lbs of torque, which is just past hand tight for the most part.

 If you try to over torque everything, it will strip the screws out. Also, if you have an extra 120mm fan like I did, you can use the fan that came with it as the exhaust fan and your other fan as the blower fan for the radiator. That is what the longest screws in the kit are for. This basically makes your 120M into a 120XL for no extra cost. So far it has worked up to my expectations.

 Intel i5-3570K CPU on a DZ77GA-70K Mother Board, so I Overclocked it to 4.2. I am now getting temps in the low 30's compared to the mid-40's, at idle. I also ran a 5 and 30 minute stress test on it using Intel's Extreme Tuning Utility and the temps never got above 75 Deg C. I will try cranking it up more later on. Also, with both of my fans attached to this thing, I can barely hear it, even during the testing with the CPU at 100% Utilization. All in all, this is a great liquid cooler for the cost.

Price: $60

 I would recommend this cooler to anyone that wants to start using liquid cooling but doesn't want to spend a fortune.

Intel Core i7-4770K Price, Specifications and Review:

This is the top-end version of Intel's new Haswell processor lineup, released on Jun 2 2013. The "K" suffix means it can be overclocked.Last year's equivalent version of this processor is the Ivy Bridge 3770k.The reviews show an average of about 7% better performance compared to the 3770k, although it varies from 1-20% depending on the application (this assumes neither chip has been overclocked).

There's also a decrease in idle power consumption (46W for 3770k down to 34W with 4770k, but didn't correct for motherboard differences so it's hard to tell exactly how much the processor helped). In contrast, under heavy load the 4770k's power consumption appears to be higher than the 3770k.

The 4770k has much better integrated graphics performance than the 3770k, although I would expect many people who buy this part won't be using the integrated graphics. If you have an expensive video card already, who cares? Still, some may find it useful.

YouTube's Subscription For Music Service will launch this year :

YouTube is readying its own subscription music service that could launch in the coming months. Billboard first reported news of the service, which is described as being in the vein of Spotify but with the added video component. It will reportedly have two different tiers: a free version, and then a premium option that will offer unlimited access to a broad selection of music. Google is reportedly in the final stages of prepping a new streaming on-demand music service that will have both free and premium versions for desktop and mobile.

Billboard reports the service is expected to cost consumers about $10 per month and be compatible with many of Google's other products and services, such as Google Glass.

APPLE Throws in free iLife, iWork with purchase of iOS or MAC :

In San Francisco on Tuesday, the company revealed a novel strategy -- giving away its flagship software. It may be the most natural move Apple could have made. Apple revealed lots of new things on Tuesday during its product event at the Yerba Buena Center in San Francisco, but the most intriguing among them was not on the product list -- its newest business strategy: aggressive pricing.

"Today we're revolutionizing pricing," said Apple's senior vice president of software engineering Craig Federighi, right before announcing that the company would be giving away OS X Mavericks, Apple's new flagship Mac operating system. On the screen behind him, the word "Free" appeared from behind a glimmer of light, one of the hokey slide animations that Apple has used in its keynote slides since Steve Jobs was the ringmaster.

Sony Xperia Z1 Specifications, camera and Price Review :

Sony has finally delivered a top tier phone. The look and feel are absolutely premium. I get the feeling that I am using a solid piece of hardware, unlike that glossy plastic feel and look you get in products from Samsung SGS line and the new iPhone 5C. The stock rom (Android 4.2.2) is the 1st stock I actually really enjoy using and don't feel the need to switch over to a custom rom. I really don't understand why this phone is not getting 5/5. Sony has put in a lot of effort into the design. With the ever so slightly edges at the corners. A real nice touch with the glass backing. They even went as far as putting in two holes in the bottom right corner to be used for a camera wrist strap. Such as one like this Nikon 25770 AN-CP19 Black Strap. There is a nice discreet LED notification light at the top middle of the phone. A small but well liked feature. It flashes white when you have a notification, flashes red when on low battery and stays orange when charging.

The screen is so nice. Out of the 5x3 inches of the phone the screen is 4.5x.2.5 inches. It looks right and when using it you really feel there is a really nice amount of screen real estate available to you. I am also glad they did not include and physical home button on the screen.
